Question:

I’m going to a casino soon to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Having never been to one before I’m not sure what I should wear.

Do casinos have a dress code, and is there anything I should definitely avoid wearing?

Well, you’re unlikely to be let in if you turn up in jeans and trainers, but at the other end of the scale you don’t need to wear formal evening dress either!

Smart casual wear is perfectly acceptable in most casinos, although it’s always best to phone the casino first and check whether they have a specific dress code – some may have stricter policies than others.

If in doubt, it’s always best to play it safe – for men, smart jacket and trousers and for women smart trousers or a dress should be fine. That said, there are no hard and fast rules regarding formal wear in casinos, so if you feel like dressing to impress go right ahead!
